Favourite Yoga Pose & Why: Galavasana, Pose Dedicated to the sage Galava and Natarajasana / Lord of the Dance Yoga Pose and Natarajasana/Lord of the Dance Pose – I love this pose because not only does it look beautiful, it provides an incredible leg and back stretch, while helping with balance and posture.

Yoga has taught me: That it can be an outlet to escape the stresses and frustrations of everyday life, while challenging my body and relaxing my mind

Favourite Yoga Pose & Why: Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana II, One legged King Pigeon Pose 2, as I feel that this pose is the most gracious of all of them and amazingly stretches not only back and shoulders but also the hips. Having pretty strong hip flexibility, this is one of a few pose that actually gives me some hip stretch.

Favourite Yoga Pose & Why: Adho Mukha Vrksasana in Padmasana, Handstand Lotus Yoga Pose as it is difficult and challenges my strength, flexibility and coordination, but feels great once you get it.

Favourite Yoga Memory: My first handstand.  Although I have always been into fitness, sadly I have almost zero skills in sports, so accomplishing some of the more challenging Yoga poses were a pleasant surprise even to myself.

Yoga has taught me: The miracles and wonders of the human body. By practicing the yoga poses we challenge ourselves and than one day we can do the yoga pose that once seemed so impossible a while back.

Major breakthrough in life: Starting my own business and facing my fears. At first it was scary but now I realize that it was the best decision I ever made.

Favourite Yoga Memory: There are many…..When I did my first headstand, handstand, Pincha Mayurasana and Marichyasana D. It is a deep twisting pose in the Ashtanga Primary Series. YeeeHaaah!!  Every time I master another yoga pose I become overjoyed!

I am currently working on perfecting “Bird of Paradise” which is a binding pose that combines balance and flexibility.  It also challenges your strength and stability to achieve the full expression of this beautiful yoga pose

Motto: “Keep smiling. Why? It keeps you young at heart.” Smiling is contagious, you can brighten someone’s day with a smile!

Yoga has taught me: The most important thing that yoga has taught me is dedication and perseverance. Through my daily yoga practice I have discovered that with time and patience you can find the self discipline and inner strength to grow both physically and mentally.

Major Breakthrough in Life:  A major breakthrough in my life was when I overcame my fear of public speaking and stood behind a podium in an auditorium filled with hundreds of teachers.  I was able to deliver a speech on professional development and overcame my fear.

Favourite Yoga Memory: Like many people who first come to the mat, I had limited flexibility, no dance or gymnastics background but I wanted to expand and challenge my body. The first time I lifted my body into Urdhva Dhanurasana, wheel pose I was amazed at what I was able to accomplish, backbends did not come naturally to me and at that moment I knew that anything was possible!

Motto: In the words of Bruce Lee ” If you put limits on what you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work, into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them”

Yoga has taught me: Yoga has allowed me to challenge myself and pushes me outside of my comfort zone.  It has also given me an outlet to express my strengths and face my weaknesses and overcome them as well as quieting my ever wandering mind allowing me to focus.

Major Breakthrough in Life: My major breakthrough in life was realizing that death is inevitable, it often comes without warning.  Coming to terms with the fact that nothing is immortal has taught me to respect and live everyday with purpose.

Favourite Yoga Pose & Why: Kala Bhairavasana, Pose dedicated to Shiva in his most destructive State. I like the challenge of the pose and the historical deity reference of the pose.

Motto: Your mind is a garden. Cultivate it wisely.

Yoga has taught me: The only limitation is self perceived limitation.

Major Breakthrough in Life: Taking the Mr. Yoga Teacher training course.

Favourite Yoga Memory: I received my nickname “Shiva 2 Foot Meter” when I didn’t think I could do a pose and Mr. Yoga made a joke about how I could do the pose if my foot grew two meters. Obliviously that wasn’t going to happen, and I realized that I had a self perceived limitation that could be overcome. I ended getting the pose 2 minutes latter.  It felt like Satori, sudden enlightenment.

Major Breakthrough in Life: Taking the Mr. Yoga Teacher training course.

Favourite Yoga Memory: I received my nickname “Shiva 2 Foot Meter” when I didn’t think I could do a pose and Mr. Yoga made a joke about how I could do the pose if my foot grew two meters. Obliviously that wasn’t going to happen, and I realized that I had a self perceived limitation that could be overcome. I ended getting the pose 2 minutes latter.  It felt like Satori, sudden enlightenment.
